the most amazing contraption ever!!!

How coooool is this? It's a big expandable wheel that can hold up to 30 shoes depending on the type!!! I'm in love...My shoes are thrown all over the bottom of my closet right now. This would be a life saver. It would be so much easier to see the other shoe I can never find! It's $65 from http://rakkudesigns.com

BOTTOMS FOR YOUR BOTTOM!

Here are some trousers i think are so hip and classy looking from http://www.mangoshop.com/ Both around $50/$60 which really isn't a bad price at all.

I think they would look really great with either a light tucked in tank or button up collared 3/4 length shirt. Also, a little open cropped jacket would look cute if you like layers.

For a cheaper but similar look, I found these trousers @ Forever21 for $22.80

High waist shorts, skirts, and pants have been become popular over the last couple seasons and I'm happy to see they are still on this years runway! Designers like Louis Vuitton, D&G, Lanvin, and Nanette Lepore all had the high waisted look from straight, or skinny, to wide legged.

Everything Shoes!

I'm loving shoes this year! Everything is so fun and different! Here are some of my favorite designer shoes and some look-a-like versions that WE can afford! :)

Here are a pair of black gladiator ones with studs by"Ash". Obviously the gladiator look is very "in" right now but for that reason, they run more expensive than we would like. I adore these ones with the studs but they go for $230.00! However...Thanks to http://www.gojane.com/ they have pair that come in 3 different colors that looks sooo similar!
How much?! Only $16.50! Love it!

Vivienne Westwood is one of my most favorite designers...and now, she has paired with "Melissa" to make amazing plastic heels that have sort of a bubble gum feel to them. I would die to get my hands on a pair and I don't even think I would hesitate to spend the cash for them. PhotobucketSome of them have big hearts on the toe instead of the bow which I think is really cute also. They go for $150.00 on asos.com Unfortunately...they are so new and different I can't find a similar plastic heel anywhere yet :( BUT I did find these really cool turquoise sandal pumps from www.shopplasticland.com Photobucket The great thing about these are that they are vegan friendly with a good price of $42.00! whoohoo!
I don't think any rip off shoes can compare to D&G or Christian Louboutin but here are some that are stunning ones they did with the best look-a-likes I could find for less! :)Photobucket
Similar...and for $22.70 I found these @ gojane.com Photobucket
I like these Christian Louboutin wedges for summer but they are $330.00 @ neiman MarcusPhotobucketHere are some strappy wedges from yet again...gojane.com for only $16 bucks!!! PhotobucketThat's about it for now! hope this has helped!?

Cheap make-up ideas for summer time!

I've been getting in to make-up so much more than usual lately. I hate going to spend $25 on one little compact or $15 on a small thing of eye shadow. As much as a love ULTA, Sephora, and MAC...It's just not affordable for me these days. When it comes down to it...as long as you're happy with the way you look when you leave the house then it doesn't matter what brand you use. Keep in mind, that you don't want something that will be bad for your complexion or make you look orange. If you DO however...feel like spending money on good make-up that will make you look light and fresh...I really really recommend Bare Minerals. It has great coverage and it lasts a really long time if you use it correctly.
I just ordered an 88 piece eye shadow palatte from http://bhcosmetics.com/ and it was only $19.95. They also offer largers palattes of eye shadow, blush, and lip gloss. I'll have to let you know how I like it when it comes in the mail next week.
Another great money saving make-up website is http://eyeslipsface.com/ Everything is just $1!!! I have a whole box full of their make-up and I don't think it's bad at all for just ONE DOLLAR! They don't really have any bright colors but I think everything goes on pretty smooth and natural looking.
Another cheap brand I like is N.YC. Which can be found at a drug store like CVS. This is normally where I get my liquid eye liner, nail polish, and lip gloss from. I think mostly everything is around $5 or under.
For summer....I've been keeping my nails a fun bright color almost every week. Try orange, yellow, and bright purple this summer! If you get your nails done, ask them if they have any nail art they can glue on. A few of the girls I work with and I put on some tiny little fruits a while ago. Here is a pic of Katy perry's nail art with sushi that I just adore!Photobucket
Right now my nails are a purple/pink color and I took a black sharpie and drew a big heart on each of my thumbs. I know that there are new art pens for sale in drug stores and online but they are usually around $10 for just one color. Why spend that much when you can use a pack of colored sharpies or metalic paint pens from Michaels or your local arts and craft store for so much cheaper? Here is another cool pic of nail art that I MUST do soon! Photobucket
I am starting to wear lipstick all the time now. I use to only go for light colored lip glosses but I think bold colors are so much more fun! I love to wear very blood red...mostly at night. But a couple colors that are popular right now are an orange-pink or a hot pink. Try to mix your color with a little bit of eye shadow or blush that is a pinch lighter/darker than the lipstick you choose so these colors aren't sooo bright or tacky looking. You don't want to look like you just walked out of an 80's music video or jazzercise class! =)Photobucket a couple people who really pull this look off (I think) is rihanna and natalie portman.
ALSO! don't forget to put blush on!!! Maybe it's just a pet peeve of mine but sometimes I see girls who have this pale white make up on or very orange/tan make-up on with NO COLOR on their cheek bones! Under all that make-up your natural complextion has a little pink doesn't it? Just add enough to make it look kissed by the sun!! It will make you look much more fresh, natural, and bright!! light powder under your eyes and light pink on your cheek bones girls!
That's all for now! I'll update a post with summer hair soon!

HAVE FUN WITH JEAN JACKETS!

Remember when everyone had an LA gear jeans jacket and wore them 24/7 with a pair of jeans? Well...I had a cute old cropped Diesel one that I cut off the arms to a couple months ago. I think I might wear it a little too much but Denim goes with everything! Sometimes I wear it plain but I also like to add broaches or pins on one side of it. I don't think I would match it with a pair of jeans but it's super cute with a summer dress...long or short. You can find a jeans jacket almost anywhere these days but I would check your local thrift store first. They probably won't be over $5 and you won't feel as bad cutting off the sleeves. best photo i could find of me wearing the one i altered: Photobucket

What I'm LOVING right now...

BLAZERS- Always a great layer to an outfit. My favorite kind right now are the over sized longer style ones. They are great to throw over a casual outfit to dress it up. I think they look super cute with high waisted shorts or skirts but you can also put them with tight skinny leggings or jeans. Since I live in Florida and it's normally waaay to hot for jackets so i scrunch or roll up the sleeves above my elbows like this pic of Mary-Kate. If you're going to get one...I would say get your first one in black.
Yesterday I went looking for blazers at thrift stores because you will find the longer 90's style ones a lot cheaper and with so many more options. I found that most Thrift stores sold them as a suit so don't be turned away if you don't see them on the rack by themselves. Also, most of the older ones you will find in these stores have shoulder pads. I like to keep them in but they can easily be taken out.
SEQUENCE-More for those of you who are willing to add some daring fun to your wardrobe. I don't think any of my friends would go for it but I know it's been sneaking on the runway and in some fashion magazines lately. I think a cute sequence mini skirt with tights under is a good look as long as you make sure to keep it classy and not cheap. To help a sequence shirt not look tacky I would pair it with a white button up professional looking dress shirt tucked in with some gladiator heels or short boots.
I recently bought this amazing sequence sweater from my favorite 2nd hand vintage shop dechoes and I actually didn't have the guts to wear it this winter...maybe next winter. Here is my friend elsie wearing it on a photoshoot. PhotobucketSo the other night I couldn't find anything to wear that I was happy with so I remembered this sequence mini dress I had bought a couple years ago that was on a sale rack for $3 bucks. I never wore it b/c it was too tight. So i decided to cut it right up the middle to make it in to a light little jacket. It is now my favorite piece in my closet and it really adds a lot to an outfit if you don't feel like wear accessories.

1st post and a long read...

Alright, so I started this blog for a few reasons...first of all though...I just love clothes, fashion, colors, costumes, and statements. Period. Another reason being that something I have always wanted to do was be a fashion coordinator/stylist. AND...since I don't see that happening anytime soon or EVER. I figured the next best thing would be to start a blog where I could let the virtual world of myself do it's own styling for those of you who care what I think. Last, I don't have a lot of money to go shopping all the time for the newest trend and the best designer labels and i know in this day and time neither do most...so I'm going to give the best info I can to show you how fashionable you can look yet still keep it affordable and creative and where I find some of my favorite things :)
I also wanted to say I haven't always been into fashion. I went through phases like most kids/teens do growing up. The stage where my mom told me what to wear, which probably consisted of limited too and 5-7-9. In middle school I went through a preppy stage and a grunge/skater stage...and then starting after middle school I pretty much wore things my sisters wore b/c they were older and I thought that must be cool. My friend and I would grab my parents video camera and do make-up tutorials on each other, put on "right said fred" and tear apart my closet.
I would say more than 50% of what I wore in highschool and college was inspired by pop culture mixed with the 80's and some of those outfits...my gosh...what was I thinking? But even then my friends knew I had my own thing going on and love it or hate it they accepted how I dressed and knew that I was going to wear whatever I was going to throw together. I wouldn't say I regret that stage b/c I think thats mostly when I developed my biggest interest and love for fashion.
At some point while walking through the mall a girl who is now not only a good freind, but one of my biggest fashion inspirations came up to me and asked if I wanted to interview @ a store opening in the brand new millenia mall. Morgan de toi was only open for about 3 months before it became the first store shut down in that mall :( I got the chance to work with her again @ Arden B. where I learned the most from her as my manger and friend.
Now being 25, I think I've finally stopped going through awkward stages and "trends" I like to try and find things that no one else will have. I love being girly but I also like mixing that with an edge. Layers are great and so are different patterns mixed together. I would say I border the hipster style with a more of an old fashioned twist. I don't know...whatever you want to call it, I always define myself with what I wear and I always try to make it look like something my friends would say "this looks like something katie would wear"
This has become so much longer than I had in mind but I wanted readers to know where I came from and that you should just take risks no matter what anyone else thinks..as long as you're confident in what you're wearing. I'm going to post this and start putting up what this blog is suppose to be all about...
